American Idol's Lauren Alaina Sings “Where You Lead, I Will Follow” on the Top 6 Show

Lauren Alaina, American Idol Season 10's 'Southern Belle', sang “Where You Lead, I Will Follow” The theme of the Top 6 Show was "The Songs of Carole King". Lauren's still working on building up her confidence, saying, "They keep telling me to sing these high notes, and it freaks me out, cuz I worry so much about hitting them, and I just don't know what to do about it." Celebrity mentor Baby Face asks, "Have you ever gone for it and not hit it?" Lauren hesitates, then says, "No." "Duh." Then, Jimmy Iovine gave Lauren a huge surprise. Miley Cyrus walked in, and "gave me such good advice," said a very happy Lauren.

"This week, I'm going to go out on the stage with confidence, and sing for my family, and just believe in myself, and do the best that I can," Lauren said with passion. Lauren took control of the stage, like she owned it. She had a lot more confidence tonight, unfortunately, it was a very safe song choice. This Carole King song did not allow Lauren to show off that huge voice of hers.

Jennifer Lopez raved, "I’m so proud of you right now. It brings tears to my eyes. I felt you pushing. And those barriers are hard to break. Even though it's encouragement, and we want you to do better, you only take the negative in. And you have to get up there, and you have to do a great job. And you push. And I heard your voice crack a little bit, and I felt proud. Cuz she's pushing." Randy Jackson praised, "She came out with a little extra swagger. Like, "I'm getting this. This is mine." It's time to throw down the gauntlet, cuz each time could be the last time. The song was a little safe and boring, but what I did love, you came up there with a vengeance. We’re looking for someone who is ready to win this. Continue to go hard for it."

Aerosmith poet Steven Tyler added, "I saw you shine tonight when your voice broke. And you manifested light. When those with talent manifest light, they become a dartboard for other people's fears, doubts and insecurities. Don't let it in there. You keep shining the way you do and keep breaking like that, cuz that shows the character in your voice."
