Love? is the seventh studio album by American recording artist and actress Jennifer Lopez. Conceived during the pregnancy of her twins Emme and Max, Love? is Lopez's most personal album to date, taking inspiration from the birth of her twins and her own experiences with love. Recording for the album began in 2009, with an original release date for the project set for January 2010 to coincide with Lopez's latest film The Back-up Plan. However following the lack of success with lead single "Louboutins", Lopez and Sony Music Entertainment decided to end their ten year partnership leaving the fate of Love? in uncertainty. In 2010, Lopez signed a new record deal with Island Def Jam, which saw the release of Love? on May 3, 2011.

The album includes a mixture of previously recorded material, along with new songs with Tricky Stewart, The-Dream and RedOne commissioned by Island Records. The album combines R&B, pop music and hip hop songs for a mixture of club-ready singles as well as slower mid-tempo songs. Lopez refers to Love? as containing her best vocals to date. The album's first single under Island Records is "On the Floor" and features Pitbull. It is the first song from Love? to garner Canadian and US airplay and has impacted on charts around the world. Released from February 11, 2011, it reached the top five in most countries, including reaching number one in fifteen countries, including Australia, Canada, the United Kingdom and much of continental Europe. It is Lopez's most successful single in eight years, peaking at number five in the United States.

"On the Floor" is a song by Jennifer Lopez and Latino rapper Pitbull, from Lopez's about-to-be released seventh studio album Love?. Following "Fresh Out the Oven" (2009), it is the second time that Lopez and Pitbull have worked together. "Fresh Out the Oven" served as one of two buzz singles for Love? "On the Floor" is an up-tempo dance-pop song, combining electropop and electro house with elements of Latin beats and an in interpolation of the Los Kjarkas song "Llorando Se Fue," which is post popular for its use by Kaoma, in their 1989 hit single "Lambada." "On the Floor" is Lopez's first single with new record label Island Records, after fulfilling her contract with Epic Records, and deciding that after more than ten years, a new label was required.

The song was written by Bilal Hajji, Kinda Hamid, Gonzalo Hermosa, Ulises Hermosa, AJ Junior, Pitbull, Teddy Sky and RedOne, who also produced the song. It is one of six songs produced by RedOne for the album and came about after Lopez requested a song that evolved her classic sound. Critics, and fans alike, drew comparisons between the song and Lopez's earliest music, such as her debut single "If You Had My Love"(1999) and the millennium hit single "Waiting for Tonight"(2000). RedOne wrote and produced the record to combine the singing and dancing elements of Lopez's career. "On the Floor" was released in February 2011 as the first single from Love? It was released to coincide with Lopez's appointment as a judge on Season 10 of American Idol. Upon release, the song received a positive response from music critics. Though some criticized RedOne's lack of imagination, others noted a similarity to Kat DeLuna's 2009 single "Party O'Clock." Most noted that RedOne had brought the best out of Jennifer Lopez.

All critics agreed that the song was a welcome comeback for Lopez combining the best elements of her previous songs with exotic flavours to make a current-sounding single. "On the Floor" became Lopez's first single, since 2007, to make an impact on Pop Airplay charts and became her first song from Love? to receive airplay recognition after neither "Fresh Out the Oven" or "Louboutins" (2009), the previous lead single, were recognized by U.S. radio. Commercially, "On the Floor" is one of Lopez's biggest hits. It has topped eighteen national single charts, mainly in Europe. It has been certified 2× platinum in Australia, as well as earning five other gold certifications. As a result, Kaoma's single "Lambada" charted at number two on the Billboard World Digital Chart, over a decade after its release.

An accompanying music video for "On the Floor" was directed by TAJ Stansberry and choreographed by Frank Gatson Jr. In February 2011, fans were given the opportunity to vote for the final ending from a choice of three alternatives. The video was debuted simultaneously on Vevo and American Idol. In the video, Lopez is seen as queen of a LA nightclub. Scenes depict an underground club culture and with the styling, choreography and fashion paying homage to the dance-beginnings of Lopez's career. It received critical acclaim for the styling and for overshadowing the episode of American Idol it debuted on. Critics praised Lopez's dancing, calling the sex-appeal similar to her 2002 single "I'm Gonna Be Alright" and in general, commenting that the video was a homage to the earlier career of Lopez.

BACKGROUND
Lopez's seventh studio album, Love?, has been in conception since late 2007 and early 2008. Then, under contract to Epic Records, Lopez released "Louboutins", a song written and produced by The-Dream and Tricky Stewart, as the project's lead single. However, upon release the song failed to garner any airplay, despite topping the Billboard Hot Dance Club Songs chart. Lopez subsequently left Epic Records, by mutual consent, and now wished to release the Love? with a new label. Upon signing with Island Def Jam Music Group, Lopez worked further with The Dream and Tricky Stewart, in addition to working with new collaborators such as RedOne. It wasn't until January 2011 that Lopez teased the media about the new lead single for Love? In a tweet on her official Twitter account, Lopez posted: "I see u @RedOne_Official! We're making BIG things happen 'On the Floor' this new year!!!". Subsequently on January 16, 2011, an unfinished snippet of "On the Floor" leaked online via Rap-Up.com. It was produced by RedOne and features a rap from Pitbull. It is the second time that Lopez and Pitbull have collaborated on, the first being "Fresh Out the Oven", the leaked 2009 club single which reached number one on the US Hot Dance Club Songs chart.

According to the Los Angeles Times' Gerrick D. Kennedy, a full length unfinished version leaked online over the same weekend, just in time for Lopez's new L'Oreal commercial which premiered during the telecast of the 68th Golden Globe Awards ceremony in Los Angeles. The timing of the leak also coincides with Lopez's debut as a full-time member of the judging panel on season ten of American Idol. Lopez confirmed the single's title as "On the Floor" during the red carpet ceremony at The Golden Globes, before appearing On Air with Ryan Seacrest radio show the following day for the song's live world premiere. Following its premier, the official version of "On the Floor", along with the single cover, were uploaded to Ryanseacrest.com. The site's editor Sadao Turner, revealed that the final master of the song was different to the previously leaked and unfinished version. Benji Eisen from AOL Music stated that Lopez had used "genius marketing and branding" by synchronizing the digital release of "On the Floor" with the premiere of its music video on American Idol.
