American Idol's Scotty McCreery Sings “Swingin'" on the Top 7 Show

American Idol Season 10's own 'Country Idol' Scotty McCreery performs "Swingin'" by LeAnn Rimes. The Top 7 were given 'Songs of the 21st Century' as tonight's theme. "Scotty is doing what he does, cuz that's what he does. But what happens on a show like this, people (the voters) can become complacent. And that's a little bit of a danger," said producer Jimmy Iovine. He wants Scotty to mix it up a bit. All of the other contestants have sung multiple genres to show off their range, but Scotty has stuck firmly to Country music. "Jimmy said to bring some life to it, kinda give it a Rocker feel," said Scotty. Let's hope Scotty can keep the non-Country fans interested and voting for him!

So, what do the other Idols think of Scotty McCreery? They all tease Scotty about holding his microphone like a flute, and tease him about his accent.

Scotty struts down the stairs with his crazy confidence. The song came off a little bit karaoke and corny. Scotty has almost become a caricature of himself with the dancing eyebrows. As always, a strong vocal performance. And as always, the audience loves them some Scotty!

Steven Tyler said, "Scotty, I love you. I love your voice. I would love it if you just boot scooted a little more, and sashayed around. But I liked it. It's good." Jennifer Lopez praised, "I love your story telling quality you have to singing. I'm just not sure that, at this point of the competition, were getting down to the wire, and it's time to pull out the big guns. Pushing past your comfort zone a little bit, and doing something that's really exciting. You had a decade of music to choose from, and I felt we were expecting more from Scotty. You know I love you."

Randy Jackson criticized, "At this point in the competition it’s who is really in it to win it. And every time up there, with the 6, 7 weeks - whatever's left in this competition, you gotta bring it really hard. To me, that was so safe, it was actually kinda boring to me. I love you, but, with this amount of songs, there could have been a better song for you to sing."
