American Idol's Lauren Alaina Sings "God Bless America" During Her Final 3 Homecoming
American Idol Season 10's Southern Belle Lauren Alaina sings "God Bless America" at a Chattanooga Lookouts Game during her Final 3 Homecoming. "God Bless America" is an American patriotic song written by Irving Berlin in 1918 and revised by him in 1938. It became the signature song of Kate Smith
Since the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks, "God Bless America" is commonly sung during the seventh-inning stretch in Major League Baseball games, most often on Sundays. The tradition has percolated down to minor league baseball games as well.
Following the September 11 terrorist attacks, Canadian pop star Celine Dion performed the song on the TV special America: A Tribute to Heroes. Shortly afterwards on October 16, Sony Music Entertainment released a benefit album called God Bless America, which featured Dion singing the song. The album debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200 and became the first charity album to reach the top since USA for Africa's "We Are the World" in 1985.
The song was recorded by New York City's "singing cop", Daniel Rodríguez, and charted for one week at #99 on the Billboard Hot 100 as a single. Before the 2001 versions, the last time "God Bless America" had been a Billboard chart hit was in 1959, when Connie Francis reached #36 with her version (the B-side of her Top 10 hit "Among My Souvenirs").

Pia Toscano Performs "All in Love is Fair" on the American Idol Top 11 Show
American Idol Season 10 beauty Pia Toscano performs Stevie Wonder's "All in Love is Fair". This week, the theme for the Top 11 Show is 'Songs from Motown'. Pia was truly thrilled with this theme, saying, "I'm so excited that this week is 'Motown Week' because I've been performing these songs with my bands, and they're so much fun. There's so much soul, so much love."
During rehearsals, Pia garnered huge praise from Interscope Chairman and producer Jimmy Iovine and the music producer she worked directly with, Harvey Mason, Jr. "There's just not singers like her any more. The quality of her tone, and her voice, and her control puts her in the category of other great singers," raved Mason. Jimmy Iovine said, "Pia was born with a great instrument. She's a powerful singer. We've all seen her hit all the notes." This is higher praise than Jimmy's given to any Idol contestant. His only advice to Pia is to "stay in the moment, and not over-think it. Cuz that's what can hurt her."
Pia Toscano takes the American Idol stage in all black and looks stunningly gorgeous. Once again, Pia gives a technically perfect performance! The audience gives her the longest standing ovation of the night, with all three judges applauding ~ which doesn't always happen. Jennifer Lopez praised, "Once again you kill us with one of your killer ballads. Amazing vocals. You can have a career like Celine Dion. You have that special of a voice, you have that special of an instrument. Not everybody can hit those notes so effortlessly like you do." Jennifer goes on to tell Pia that she has to own the stage, and that will "take her over the top. Your amazingly awesome." Randy Jackson loves that Pia can hit notes "dead on," but he's tiring of the standing-still-at-the-mic-ballads. He told Pia, "You’re phenomenal. But, give me a midtempo! Give me an uptempo. Bring something a little different." Aerosmith's Steven Tyler was ready with another off-beat compliment, telling Pia, "Right now, you are the closest star in this American Idol universe. It’s just beautiful."

American Idol Season 10 Top 11 rocker James Durbin is 22 year old and comes from Santa Cruz, California. Durbin had previously auditioned for American Idol in Season 8, but did not get the 'Golden Ticket' to Hollywood. James auditioned again, for Season 10 of American Idol in San Francisco, California. After making it through the Hollywood and Las Vegas rounds, James was one of the Top 5 male vote getters in the semi-final round to advance to the Top 13.
Sticking mainly to his Rock-n-Roll roots, James has even dared to sing Heavy Metal on American Idol - being the first contestant EVER to perform Judas Priest>! James has a very loyal following, including the three Idol judges. He can hold a very long 'scream' like the best of the old-time rockers. What many fans appreciate about James is that his 'scream' is on-key and pleasant, not a long, drawn-out screech. Judge Randy Jackson raved, “You’re one of my favs in this whole thing. I love this kind of voice. James Durbin is dangerous, America.” And, "What you do always is you figure out how to make it your own. You found a way to put your high note in, but not overdo it. Very tastefully done Dude." And Jennifer Lopez praised James saying, “You have such a quality. You have what the greatest rock singers have. You’re melodic.” And the judge who knows Rock-n-Roll the best, Aerosmith's Steven Tyler told James, "That man right there has a rich vein of inner crazy."

James was diagnosed with Tourette's and Asperger's syndrome shortly after his father died. He has facial tics, some social awkwardness, and restricted interests. But, James does not allow these disorders to stop him from being the most dynamic and entertaining Idol on stage!
James has a wife, Heidi, whom he met in a bar and considers his 'rock'. They have a son together named Hunter. He was unemployed prior to appearing on Idol.
In 2006, Durbin performed in the Santa Cruz-based children's theater group called Kids on Broadway and played the lead role in "Beauty and the Beast>" and "Singin' in the Rain". In 2007, he played the leading roles of Tony in "West Side Story" and Oscar in "Sweet Charity" - both productions produced by All About Theatre, a Santa Cruz community theater company. James was also the lead singer in a Heavy Metal band called The Hollywood Scars. In the past, Durbin has also done some country music.

The audience and judges love Pia. Not only is she gorgeous and classy on stage, she can truly belt out a tune! Judge Randy Jackson told Pia, "Dude, I'm in awe. Very hot, dope, cool performance." And Steven Tyler said, "You polished that apple...You just slammed it." She impressed the judges with her rendition of "I'll Stand by You" by the Pretenders during the semi-finals, receiving the first standing ovation of the season and earning her a place in the Top 13. The judges said she had one of the best performances in Idol history!
