For Caleb Kennedy, it’s all about “bringing the feel back to country music” and helping people through difficult times with his music. Alex Miller and Cameron McGhar, also contestants performing in the country genre, have formed a friendship strong enough to share matching belt buckles and hopes of a duet partnership! Grace Kinstler and DJ Johnson are no strangers when it comes to struggling with self confidence. Grace grew up feeling like she didn’t quite “fit the mold” when it came to other singers and artists, while DJ always wanted to be a singer, but was too scared to open up. Now, in Hollywood Week, Grace and DJ hope their voices prove to the judges that they have found confidence within themselves. Watch here as Grace Kinstler performs “10 Seconds” by Jazmine Sullivan, while DJ Johnson covers Andra Day’s “Rise Up,” for Katy Perry, Luke Bryan and Lionel Richie.

Hunter Metts, Graham DeFranco, and Cassandra Coleman Hollywood Week performances

Former software engineer, Hunter Metts, says it was difficult to justify working that job as his “safe option,” when he had a burning passion inside of him for music. Graham DeFranco worked as a pilot for 3 years, but said if he “had to choose between being a pilot and having a career playing music, it wouldn’t even be a question;” it’d be music, all the way. Cassandra Coleman explains that music is her passion, but up to this point, she’s always treated it as more of a hobby. For all three contestants, it took stepping out of their comfort zone to make it here, to Hollywood Week. What Bobby Bones told Cassandra, applies to all three of these contestants; “Chase that uncomfortable feeling, because that’s where the growth comes from.”
